2-Day Practical Instructor Course

This immersive 2-day course is designed to give you everything you need to confidently introduce scent detection to your clients.

You’ll leave not just inspired—but fully equipped to start delivering your own UK Sniffer Dogs sessions.

What You’ll Learn

• How a dog’s incredible nose works (anatomy & physiology made practical)

• How to teach scent identification, indication, and search skills to pet dog owners

• Step-by-step guidance on running a 4-hour Bronze workshop

• How to structure and deliver sessions with clarity and confidence

With around 70% of the course being hands-on, you and your dog will gain valuable practical experience throughout.

• Your UK Sniffer Dogs Bronze Instructor Certificate

What to Expect on the Day

• Arrival: 09:00 for a 09:30 start

• Finish: approximately 15:30–16:00

• There will be a period (around mid-morning) where dogs rest in the car or crate before practical work begins

• From late morning onwards, dogs will be working more actively

Your Dog

Your dog does not need prior scent work experience.

If they already have experience, that’s absolutely fine—our methods will complement what they already know.

Before attending, please feed your dog from a red Kong (must be red) at least once a day for one week… all will be revealed on the course ?

This course is designed for you as the instructor. Your dog is part of the learning process, but the focus is on building your skills, understanding, and confidence.

Who This Course Is For

We’re looking for trainers who are:

• Force-free and reward-based in their approach

• Passionate about improving dogs’ lives through enrichment

• Already experienced in dog training and handling

You don’t need formal qualifications—but you do need a solid understanding of dog behaviour, training principles, and how to work with both dogs and their owners.

Becoming a UK Sniffer Dogs Instructor

Before attending the course, you’ll be asked to sign our Instructor Terms & Conditions so you fully understand what’s expected.

Once you’ve passed, you’ll be able to start delivering UK Sniffer Dogs classes, workshops, and trials within your own business.

Licence (Required to Teach)

To teach UK Sniffer Dogs content, instructors must hold a licence (£10 per month).

This gives you:

• Permission to teach our structured courses

• Use of the UK Sniffer Dogs name and branding

• Listing on our Instructor Directory

• Access to proven class formats and content

This ensures consistency, quality, and support across our instructor network.

Membership (Optional Upgrade)

For those wanting ongoing support and growth, you can upgrade to our membership (£20 per month).
