3-Day Practical Instructor Course

This immersive 3-day course is designed to give you everything you need to confidently introduce tracking to your clients.

Covering Bronze, Silver, and Gold levels, you’ll leave fully equipped to deliver structured tracking programmes with clear progression.

What You’ll Learn

• The science of scent and how it applies to tracking

• How to confidently lay and run tracks

• Step-by-step guidance on delivering:

  • Bronze (8-week course, Series 1 & 2 workshops, trials)

  • Silver (8-week course, Series 3 & 4 workshops, trials)

  • Gold (8-week course, Series 5 & 6 workshops, trials)

• How to structure and deliver tracking sessions with clarity and confidence

With around 70% of the course being practical, you’ll gain plenty of hands-on experience working your dog.

What You’ll Receive

• Detailed 8-week class plans for all levels

• Trial templates so you can confidently run your own competitions

• A printed course booklet covering each level

• Your UK Sniffer Dogs Tracking Instructor Certificate

• Tea, coffee… and cake!

• Three days of practical learning and progression with your dog

What to Expect on the Day

• Arrival: 09:00 for a 09:30 start

• Finish: approximately 16:00

• There will be a period (mid-morning) where dogs rest in the car or crate before practical work begins

• From late morning onwards, dogs will be working more actively

Your Dog

Your dog does not need prior tracking or scent work experience.

If they already have experience, that’s absolutely fine—our methods will complement what they already know.

Before attending, please feed your dog from a red Kong (must be red) at least once a day for one week… all will be revealed on the course ?

This course is designed for you as the instructor. Your dog is part of the learning process, but the focus is on building your skills, understanding, and confidence.

Who This Course Is For

We’re looking for trainers who are:

• Force-free and reward-based in their approach

• Passionate about developing dogs through enrichment and scent work

• Already experienced in dog training and handling

You don’t need formal qualifications—but you do need a solid understanding of dog behaviour, training principles, and working with both dogs and their owners.

Becoming a UK Sniffer Dogs Tracking Instructor

To make things simple, everything is set up for you at the point of booking.

When you enrol, you will:

• Agree to our Instructor Terms & Conditions

• Select either your Licence (£10/month) or Membership (£20/month), membership details

Your chosen option will then automatically begin once you have successfully passed your course, so there’s nothing further you need to set up.

Licence or Membership – What You Need to Teach

To teach UK Sniffer Dogs content, all instructors must hold either a Licence or Membership:

• The Licence allows you to teach our courses, use our branding, and be listed on our Instructor Directory

• The Membership includes your licence, along with additional support, resources, and business tools

You only need one or the other—membership includes the licence.
